London 2/5

December 30th, 2007
Weather: a little cloudy, later a little sunny
Song of the day:
Various Artists – Let it snow

Waking up in the morning I consciously notice the huge church yard on the backside of the hostel. It is the only thing I can see looking outside the window (miles and miles only church yard)… far away some cities and the horizon. Today's tour begins by walking through the Hyde Park and listening to some good (haha) speeches in Speaker’s Corner. Our lunch time we spend in Kensington, but a certain feeling takes us to Tottenham Court Road at 2pm where we are going to be for two hours at the Hillsong Church London: absolutely amazing! From saying Hello to the nice young man who looks like a model to leaving the Dominion theatre watching the Freddy Mercury statute on the roof… just cool. Though we hardly know 5 songs from the 38 they sing in today's special worship service (what a good Sunday!) it is a great time and indeed a ‘touching heaven’-service.
We also see the famous Harrods today. It is expensive, crowded and you really do not dare to touch anything being afraid you could disturb anything and would have to pay for it.
The same evening we try to get into a traditional pub. But what a pity, the bar keeper sees I'm not older than 17, so we have to leave again. But we find another bar then. The very nice English bar keeper even serves iced water for free (!!) - of course, only for me.
When we're driving home by the Underground we decide to follow the voice in the tube: ‘The next station is Queen’s Park, exit here for the London Overground. Please, mind the gap between the train and the platform!’ It takes us a few more minutes to get to our hostel. But I must say, these minutes are really nice. We're seeing the old houses, watching the dark sky and the stars and we're singing 'Let it snow'.

wenn man den Satz hört kommen irgendwie alle Erinnerungen hoch...z.B. wo der Pat über die Lautsprecher angesprochen wurde :-).
