Homechurch last night

The topic yesterday in homechurch was a bit different. Not the topic itself, but the way it was 'preached'. hihi.

Voice of truth

To have the kind of faith it takes

But the waves are calling out my name

But the voice of truth tells me a different story
the voice of truth says "do not be afraid!"
and the voice of truth says "this is for my glory"
out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

To stand before a giant
with just a sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound
of a thousand warriors
shaking in their armor
Wishing they'd have had the strength to stand

But the giant's calling out
my name and he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times

but the stone was just the right size
to put the giant on the ground
and the waves they don't seem so high
from on top of them looking down

when I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
singing over me

Sometimes we need faith, very much faith to go into the unknown (like Peter when he went out of the boat to walk on the sea), although we know Jesus is there holding out his hand.
And there are doubts, fears, thoughts telling us: "You'll never do it, you can't" and we sometimes believe our 'feelings' more...
but then the voice of truth tells us the truth saying we shall not be afraid and that anytime we listen to that voice it's for the glory of the Lord.
Sometimes we wish to have strength like David had when he stood before Goliath with the smallest weapons we can imagine. Like him we'd like to have that assurance that we are not alone and we are able to move mountains. But then we see that mountain before us thinking "how shall I be able to make that?" and the problem seems to say "you'll never win".
Then it's the right time to put those thoughts and feelings away and to choose the voice of God to listen to. Because he says something different, the truth, we might not believe immediately, but sooner or later we have to make a choice: believe the truth or not. You may fight against it, saying "no, no, I do not believe that, I can't", but it's simply the truth and the problem then is YOURS.
If we do believe it: The problem doesn't seem so big anymore when we're over it and we see our 'weapons' have been enough to make the mountain fall because Jesus was there with us all the time.

Sometimes it is a challenge to turn off all the other voices and choose God's voice. But he says in the bible we should put our faith and trust in him and that we could do anything through the one who strengthens us.

If we don't listen to him, it's our problem. But if we do, we can go on and grow like God wants us to.
