Garmisch-Partenkirchen Sep. 1st - Sep. 5th, 2007

Hello to you and especially to all that were in Garmisch-Partenkirchen during the last 5 days!

Here's a short report with a few pictures of the Youth camp (I haven't found a better word for it, suggestions asked.)

On Saturday morning (Sep. 1st) about 20 people went to the dear idyllic city Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria (Bavaria the 3rd - hihi). The hostel driver of the Riesserkopf- and Tonihütte, who we first named 'Toni' put our package in his blue van and drove it up to the hostel. We had to walk those 4 kilometres up the 'hill' (altitude difference: 300-400 metres). When we had arrived we moved into our rooms.

The 8-bed-room of 7 girls (2 can be seen: Franzi and Caro). The rooms were quite okay, I can't complain for I've seen rather worse youth hostels.

Steffi and me the next morning (Sep. 2nd) before starting our 4-hours-trip.
We've got the same sunglasses... that's why we made that Pseudo-LaraCroft-picture.

The 'Alpspitze' could be seen from our hostel.

Resting after walking up the 'Kreuzeck' (1340 metres).

The surrounding mountains. The look around was very impressive.

A pretty girl named Franzi... what do I have to say more?

Green grass, great mountains, sheep, lodges - we were reminded of Heidi, Peter, Almöhi, Schwänli & Bärli and Schnucki. Childhood movies came up again :)

Krissy and Chrissy in the great countryside.

Next aim: The Partnachklammtal and the Partnachklamm.

Down in the valley. The river was beautiful and the water so clear. We could have stayed there for hours and have watched it... but the even greater thing was to come later.

Rebecca had won the bet with Benni, she went into the cold river!

In the beginning...

Later. What an amazing view. I've not often seen such a beauty I admit. Unfortunately pictures can never bring back the beauty of a living moment. Only pictures...

Benni with the attraction of Bavaria. He bemoaned the hostel team for they were not dressed like the typical Bavarian citizens... but thank God we had found coachmen in traditional costumes. Benni was happy again.

Thank God in the end of the day Toni (whose real name was Ernst. Are you alright, Krissy? hihi) took us up the 4 kilometres to our hostel. The bus was so full, Julia and I had to sit back in the trunk.

The next day (Sep. 3rd): On our way to the Höllentalklamm.
Our smaller group took time to take photos of the great river. It was again amazing to see the clear, blue (it was really blue!!) water. The only song that came to my mind in that moment was 'How great is our God'.
In my diary I wrote: ' The clear blue water, the sun shining through the branches of the trees, the sound of the waterfall. I felt peace. [...]'

'[...]This was one of these many moments in life that must be enjoyed. One of these moments you'll never live again, these moments of peace.'

Anybody tired?

Fun Eve: A talkshow with a Japanese (watch Witali's watch ;)), Abdullah and Dr. Antje Superchlugg ('Amsterdam, Stuttgart, München, Ulm, Kopenhagen...' :) haha).

Rainy day (Sep. 4th):
Shopping in/walking through Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Yep.

A special day for Steffi by the way: Her birthday. :)

Sep. 5th in the morning:
Snow on the roof, it had snowed in the cold night.
But remember: We've still Septembre!!!

And the crowning last breakfast: Bavarian veal sausage.

The trip ended yesterday. A lot of fun, action, new people and one of the most important things: good conversation. Believe me: if there's something I do not like, let's say something I hate (!) is small talk! Of course we also had funny discussions, e.g. about Heidi, Almöhi and so on, right?
You know what I mean: I'm happy to have had good interesting conversations without the nonsense drivel (How are you doing? What great weather we have... and blabla!).

And now there's nothing more to say, but: have a nice day/week/life!

Yours sincerely,
Chrissy

PS: London, baby! I'm coming. :) *joy*
